In its original incarnation, the code points U+0900.U+0954 were a direct copy of the characters A0-F4 from the 1988 ISCII standard. Devanagari (देवनागरी) is an Abugida script used to write numerous languages of south Asian country. It also called Devanagari Lipi. Devanagari is a conjunction of Sanskrit Language (term): deva + Nagari. The term Deva refers to “god,” and the term Nagari refers to “script or lipi of the city”. ‘Newari, a Tibeto-Burman language written in the Devanagari script, is spoken in the Kathmandu Valley.’ ‘We know that they were acquainted with alphabetic writing in the form of the Devanagari alphabet in which the Sanskrit of the Buddhist scriptures was written and in the form of the Phags-Pa alphabet.’.
